A clogged nozzle is the most common reason a print stops halfway. A set of 12 stainless steel cleaning needles clears it in moments, right there in the printer and without stripping the hotend. The thin hardened needles pass through the nozzle bore and push out the filament residue, soot and dirt that cause under-extruded layers and broken flow.

Key points:

  • 12 needles in five diameters: 0.2 / 0.25 / 0.3 / 0.35 and 0.4 mm cover practically every common nozzle.
  • Four extra 0.35 mm needles: the size for the ubiquitous 0.4 mm nozzle, the one you use up fastest, comes four times in the set.
  • Springy stainless steel: the wire flexes, so inside the nozzle it bends rather than snaps. It survives dozens of cleanings.
  • A coiled spring instead of a handle: the first third of the needle is a tightly wound steel coil. You hold the needle by that, without bending the thin wire.
  • Handy tube with a screw cap: the needles do not get lost or damaged, and the set fits in any toolbox.

What is in the set:

  • 2× 0.2 mm needle
  • 2× 0.25 mm needle
  • 2× 0.3 mm needle
  • 4× 0.35 mm needle
  • 2× 0.4 mm needle
  • 1× clear tube with a cap

How to clear the nozzle:

  1. Heat the nozzle to the printing temperature of the filament you last printed with (around 210 °C for PLA, about 240 °C for PETG).
  2. Pick a needle slightly thinner than the nozzle bore. For a 0.4 mm nozzle use the 0.35 mm needle.
  3. Slide the needle into the nozzle from below and gently twist and withdraw it a few times. Do not force it.
  4. Push a little filament through so the loosened dirt comes out, then wipe the rest from around the nozzle.
  5. Let the needle cool and put it back in the tube.

When to reach for the needles:

  • The printer skips layers or lays down thinner lines than it should.
  • Nothing comes out of the nozzle even though the extruder is pushing.
  • After switching from a filled material (CF, Silk, glow) back to plain filament.
  • As routine care after every nozzle change or after the printer has stood idle for a while.

Technical details:

  • Number of needles: 12 pcs
  • Diameters: 0.2 mm (2×), 0.25 mm (2×), 0.3 mm (2×), 0.35 mm (4×), 0.4 mm (2×)
  • Material: stainless steel
  • Needle construction: a wound steel coil to grip, running into a straight polished wire with a sharp tip
  • Packaging: clear plastic tube with a screw cap
  • Compatibility: universal, MK8, E3D V6, Volcano, Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa and other nozzle types

Tip: always use the needle on a hot nozzle. In a cold nozzle the filament will not push through and the needle can jam or break.
